First of before we get into a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship and its benefits let take it back to a more simple question. Actually maybe simple is not the right term lets go with more general question. Why an apprenticeship?
Well that is a very good question. If you are like me and after GCSEs decided to do A levels, you will have found that sixth forms love to push you towards going to university, now this is all well and good for some, but for others you may feel pressured to apply for universities, when originally that wasn't your plan. I know I was.
The only reason I didnt end up going to university was for the one reason that the university cancelled the course. At the time I can't lie I was devastated but looking back on it not even a year later I can see it was a blessing in disguise. Being a university student just isn't for me and that is the case for many others I'd suspect.
Now thats a small snippet of how I became an apprentice because the whole story will take up a whole post in itself. Yes, its that long! Lets move onto some main benefits of apprenticeships over university. Id also like to mention this is no way a better career path then university it is just another option which some pay prefer.
Most people when they think apprenticeship think about the money aspect of them and yes this is a benefit. You do earn a salary when on an apprenticeship, so rather then ending up in debt and paying to learn like you do with university you actually get paid to learn. However in my opinion I wouldn't say this is the biggest benefit to an apprenticeship.
Another benefit to an apprenticeship for me is that they are much shorter then a degree, most apprenticeships last for around 18 months - 2 years where as a degree is 4 years on average, and what happens if you complete the degree then decide that isn't what you want to do in the future. You may feel that you have wasted your time or effort into something.
Lastly I feel that the biggest benefit to an Apprenticeship for me is the fact that you are learning on the job, your not just learning the theory but you are putting it into practice as a real employee for an employer. After the apprenticeship is complete you may also get a offer of a permanent perdition in the business which will boost your career further.
I would just like to finish this of by saying thank you for reading my first blog post I really appreciate it and all feedback is welcome. I would also just like to state these are all my opinions it is perfectly fine if you disagree with anything I've said I'm just here to share my experiences and thoughts. See you all again soon.
